Emma arrives in Fenleigh expecting to spend one quiet weekend with her aunt. She does not expect Auntie June to announce her retirement—or to hand Emma the keys to Holly House Post Office in front of the entire village.
Determined to return to London as soon as possible, Emma agrees to keep the post office running temporarily. But between misplaced parcels, handwritten letters to Father Christmas and villagers who already seem convinced she is staying, leaving Fenleigh becomes more complicated than she imagined.
